Historic District

The Town of Snowflake has designated certain areas of the town as a Historic District.  The designated areas include a portion of the downtown area as well as all properties that border State Route 77 (Main Street) or State Route 277 (Snowflake Boulevard).

Historic District regulations are applied to properties which, because of their historic significance or the significance of adjacent properties, have special value to the community.  The Historic District is intended to enable properties so designated to be preserved and protected from incompatible uses and to be recognized for their unique values.

Prior to development or construction taking place within this district, the property owner must meet with the Historic Review Committee to discuss the recommendation of the committee.  It is up to the property owner whether to accept these recommendations.  We encourage property owners considering a project or a modification to an existing property to contact the Planning Department early in the project planning stages.

To determine whether your property is within the Historic District or for more information regarding construction projects within this district, you may view our Historic District map (Historic District Map) or contact our office.
